String Theory

String theory is a theory of quantum gravity that provides a unified description of gravity and particle physics. it is a theoretical framework  in which the point-like particles of particle physics are replaced by one-dimensional objects called strings. The theory describes how these strings propagate through space and interact with each other.

• What is the true nature of the universe – humans came up with stories to describe the world.
• we test our stories to see what to keep and what to throw away.
• string theory is one of the stories we come up with to explain the nature of everything
• we thought that the atoms were the final layer of reality.
• we can’t see anything until we interact with it.
• some of the particles are too small that  visible light passes over them.
• we can solve this by creating electromagnetic wave length with much smaller wave length.
• more wavelength mean more energy.
• Quarks, leptons, bosons all standard models are built on the particles.
• since there is no way to precisely measure things in the quantum world, the story of gravity doesn’t work with the story of quantum physics.
• when physicist tried to add a gravity to the story by inventing a new particle their mathematics broke-down.
• if we could marry gravity to quantum physics and the standard model we would have the theory of everything.
• so scientist came up with a new story Whats more complex than a point, a line or a string,  string theory was born.
• the string theory is more elegant because it describes many different elementary particles as different modes of vibration of the string.
• a string can give different particles, most importantly, these includes gravity .
• string theory promised to unify all fundamental forces of the universe.
• this cased excitement because string theory could graduate to theory of everything.
• but the string theory came up with limitations.
• it doesn’t work in our universe.
• it requires 10 dimensions to work.
• no one has been able to work it work so string theory has not been able to reveal the true nature of the universe.
